President Biden Made the Right Call

It was obviously an extremely difficult decision for President Biden to make, deciding to stand down and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris to succeed him as America's 47th President. But, under the circumstances, Biden made the right call.
In his letter to the American people, Biden said that “it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President.”
There is no point in rehashing the events that have led to this, except to say that pressure from leading Democratic officials and donors to his campaign made that decision unavoidable. Now, however, we can move forward and work as hard as possible to elect Harris and prevent Donald Trump from returning to the White House.
Already, Biden's endorsement of Harris to succeed him has generated an outpouring of support, with at least a dozen Democratic senators voicing support for her as the new Democratic presidential nominee. They include Sens. Tammy Baldwin (Wis.), Mark R. Warner (Va.), Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Tim Kaine (Va.), Patty Murray (Wash.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.), Tina Smith (Minn.), Jon Ossoff (Ga.), Edward J. Markey(Mass.), Chris Murphy (Conn.), Debbie Stabenow (Mich.) and Chris Coons (Del.).
Moreover, a Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll this month said 44 percent of Americans would be “satisfied” with Harris as the Democratic nominee, including 70 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, if Biden decided to step aside.
For those of us who were enthusiastic about Harris' selection to be Biden's runningmate four years ago, we now have an opportunity to help this brilliant former prosecutor defeat Trump and become America's first female president.
Harris said she was honored to have Biden's endorsement and that she intends "to earn and win this nomination."
Said Biden in his announcement, "Democrats -- it's time to come together and beat Trump. Let's do this."Further, she credited Biden with a "selfless and patriotic act" in stepping aside, and said he is "putting the American people and our country above everything else."
Already, his announcement is being met with plaudits from Democratic leaders, including California Gov. Gavin Newson, widely seen as a potential candidate if Biden stepped aside.
"President Biden has been an extraordinary, history-making president — a leader who has fought hard for working people and delivered astonishing results for all Americans. He will go down in history as one of the most impactful and selfless presidents."
Biden Made the Right Call
As much as Biden obviously hates to admit it, Father Time has caught up with him, as it does with everyone. Yet, he has worked his tail off in his term as President and has made remarkable progress in the face of vicious opposition from Republicans and Donald Trump. His legacy will be one of achievement and success, of selfless determination to make America better for everyone, not just the top one percent, as is the case with Trump.
Never forget that it was Donald Trump who, in a meeting with oil industry executives, said they should donate $1 billion to his campaign and that he would wipe out Biden-backed environmental regulations aimed at reducing the environmental threats caused by climate change.
During Trump's long, boring, and rambling acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, he pledged to end backing for electric vehicles and called for America to "drill, baby, drill" -- exactly what those oil barons hoped to hear.
The threats to America, should Trump win the election, are many and they are serious. All one needs to do is pay attention to the GOP's Project 2025 to see what would be in store for us if Trump returns to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Yes, he absolutely made the right call! There is a line from one of the Star Trek movies that goes, “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few…or the one.” Biden put the interests of the country over his own personal interests. It's something the Orange Blob would never do because he's a megalomaniacal narcissist!
