Congressman Curly's Comedy Circus
Feeling politically overwhelmed? Tune in to our latest episode with Tony Zora, who’s taking the political stage by storm as Congressman Curley! Listen as he aims to bridge the divide with comedy, music, and a bold plan for unity.

Laughing Through Politics

In an era where political divisiveness seems to dominate every corner of our lives, from TV screens to dinner tables, there comes an unusual yet refreshing break—the character of Congressman Curley.

A creation of Tony Zorc, a failed independent presidential candidate turned comedian, singer and songwriter, Congressman Curley is a comedic persona offering a satirical view on American politics. He aims not only to entertain but also to inspire conversations about political unity in a nation that desperately needs it.

A Comedy Tour with a Purpose

Tony Zorc has taken the stage with a mission: to bridge the political divide through laughter and music.

Congressman Curly's comedy tour cleverly pokes fun at both Republicans and Democrats, with the goal of fostering cultural political unity in America. According to Zork, the routine is not about taking sides but about challenging the spectators to rethink the role of political parties today through comedy sketches and storytelling.

The origin of Congressman Curly is as compelling as the character itself. After selling his successful accounting software company in 2021, Zork decided to pursue music and comedy full-time to address what he saw as a systemically broken political structure. He believes the political system is designed around campaign financing from corporate entities, leaving politicians to play roles rather than enact real change.

A Life-Changing Moment

Zorc's journey into comedy was not a mere career shift but rather a deeply personal transformation following a family tragedy—the sudden loss of his son. This life-altering event led Zork and his wife to question how they wanted to spend their remaining years, eventually driving him towards a mission of promoting political unity.

Rather than pursuing a conventional political path, Zorc chose a creative avenue. He transitioned from aspiring politician to comedian, intent on raising awareness for political reform through a new medium: entertainment. He invested in learning stand-up comedy, attended numerous open mics, and meticulously crafted his comedic alter ego, Congressman Curley.

Congressman Curley's Role in Political Satire

Congressman Curly stands as a caricature of the very politicians Zorc critiques. Through this character, Zork explores the extent of political theater prevalent in Washington. Curly's narrative is eerily reflective of real-world issues—the monetization of partisan politics, the need for new political parties, and the challenges of campaign finance reform.

With a custom suit split in half by political color—red and blue—Curly symbolizes bipartisan satire. This eccentric character critiques both sides, advocating for unity while highlighting the systemic failures that fuel division. The character's fictitious backstory, from helping Nixon to influencing modern political players, is an exaggerated window into the absurdities of political power games.

The Road Ahead: Music and the Simplicity of a Melody

Unexpectedly, Zorc's journey with Congressman Curley has led him into the world of music. Apart from comedy, Zork has positioned himself as a singer-songwriter, recording 25 songs in conjunction with his show.

Despite having zero prior experience in music, Zorc has managed to create content that resonates, using songs to communicate his themes.

Contrary to expectations, the largest audience for Zork’s shows has been Gen X and boomers, not the Gen Z and millennials for whom it was originally designed. Nonetheless, the interactive nature of his performances, filled with music and comedy, has sparked optimism in Zorc as he seeks to expand beyond small venues to larger platforms.

Tony Zorc’s venture into political satire and music under the mantle of Congressman Curly is an ambitious project. It’s an imaginative attempt to spark a national conversation about the need for real political reform and unity without the typical posturing seen in conventional political spaces.

Through laughter and songs, Congressman Curly challenges individuals to imagine a political landscape less divided and more united, encouraging audiences to laugh and think critically—all while continuing the timeless tradition of using satire to address societal issues.
