A Response Supporting Joe Biden

Palmer on the Lean to the Left podcast
Former candidate Jason Palmer has launched a petition urging President Biden to "pass the torch" to a younger candidate. This Lean to the Left columnist disagrees.

Lean to the Left publisher and editor Bob Gatty recently posted an article on this website about Jason Palmer, “Should Biden Be Replaced? A Conversation about Attracting Young Voters.” Palmer previously challenged Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.

Since that blog appeared, Palmer has since launched a petition on Change.org urging Biden to step aside in favor of a younger alternative. You can view Bob's report about this development here.

Even though Palmer’s candidacy failed, he was inspired to begin a new organization called Together!, which he hopes will empower more young people to strive for leadership roles and hopes that will generate a reduction in political polarization.

Good for Palmer looking ahead for the future of our country!  We need young Democrats voting in political races across the country and winning leadership roles in 2028, but not in this election.

Palmer is not using his petition, or Together!, to enhance his own concluded candidacy, which generated just one primary victory -- American Samoa. He simply believes that the president's poor performance in his debate with Trump clearly indicates that he no longer is up to the rigors of the presidency.

If you are unfamiliar with Palmer, you can learn more about him at https://togetherpurple.org.

In his appearance this week on the Dixie Dems edition of the Lean to the Left podcast,

Palmer explained, “I want Democrats to have a very thoughtful and in public conversation about the fact that there are better candidates to run against Trump this fall, who not only have a better chance  of winning, but who actually have a positive vision for the future.”

His statement begs the question as to who that replacement might be, although Palmer lists on the program several leading Democrats he says would be stronger candidates against Trump, whom he says is a danger to our nation.

Remember Barack Obama’s electrifying speech in 2004 as a young senator from Illinois? That now-legendary speech helped Obama rise to national prominence, and is regarded as one of the great political statements of the 21st century. He is speaking again and this time it is to support Joe’s continuation in the race.

The people who voted for Trump in 2016 said they didn’t want another politician, they wanted a businessman instead. Well we can see where that’s  gotten us. Among his other failings, Trump is enamored with dictators and has said he will be a dictator "on Day 1."

If that hasn’t caught your attention about the importance of this election, then maybe you should get a copy of Judgment at Nuremburg, and watch it a few times because what happened in Germany could happen here. Joe Biden understands all that is at stake if this election is lost.  Sometimes experience is a very good thing, and in this case is a solid reason for supporting Joe Biden.

What’s frightening right now is that many Democrats who are on national television don’t understand that Biden is the best candidate to beat Trump, despite his shaky debate performance. The discussions they are having are hurting our chances of keeping Trump away from the Oval Office.

We do need young people to be engaged in the politifcal process and the election. But most important, we need to make sure their is another election. If Trump wins and follows Putin’s lead, there won’t be another election.

Keep that in mind, people.
